The town
Aspe, quarter by quarter
The town grew from a medieval core on the right bank of the río Tarafa, crossed the river in the late 19th century and added six quarters between the 1930s and 1970, as the council's own planning report records. On the phone, the name of the quarter and a landmark help as much as the street.
-
The old centre
The oldest streets, round the Basílica del Socorro and the Plaza Mayor: terraced town houses on lanes laid out before the town crossed the river. The square and several streets around it are pedestrian.
On the phone: The van stops at the edge of the pedestrian streets and the last stretch is on foot. Give the square or the church door you are nearest to.
-
El Castillo
North of the Tarafa: big blocks and narrow streets where houses and small workshops sit side by side.
On the phone: Say which side of the river you are on and the nearest bridge.
-
El Parque and Sagrado Corazón
The quarter that grew round the market (1930) and the Parque Doctor Calatayud, and the 1957 Sagrado Corazón houses: single-family homes, most still with their front garden.
On the phone: The market or the park is the easiest landmark to give.
-
La Coca, La Prosperidad and Huerta Mayor
The densest part of town: blocks of flats on narrow streets, where a street door and a stair come before your own door.
On the phone: Street, number, floor and door letter, and whether the street door is open.
-
Vistahermosa and the Caminico de Elche
Lower, looser streets from the late 1950s onwards, with houses rather than tall blocks, running out towards the Elche road.
On the phone: The road you turned off and a house colour or gate help more than a number here.
-
La Nía and Los Cipreses
The two old cave-house settlements on the southern edge, now among ordinary houses.
On the phone: A WhatsApp location pin sent from the door saves the most time.
Outside the town
Montesol, the urbanisations and the parajes
Montesol is the only settlement in the municipality that the national statistics office counts separately from the town: 137 registered residents in 2025, up from 40 in 2010.
Urbanisations: Santa Elena, San Isidro, Mirador de La Alcaná, Montesol II. Detached houses, many with a pool and a driveway gate. Give the urbanisation and the street; numbers are not always on show.
The parajes: Alcaná, El Tolomó, La Ofra, El Aljau, Uchel, El Azafá, Upanel, Los Algezares, Hondo de las Fuentes, Tabayá, Vistalegre, El Collao, La Calera, Cherro, La Puntica. Country houses on tracks with no numbers at all. A location pin sent from the gate is the only reliable address. The finca and villa page covers the work on those properties, and the guide on locks for the caseta of a finca the outbuildings.
Industrial estates: Tres Hermanas I and II; Avenida de Navarra and Aljau; Carretera de Alicante (sector 7). Opening and lock changes only, as the commercial page explains.
Three neighbours
Three towns next door: Hondón de las Nieves, Hondón de los Frailes and Agost
-
Hondón de las Nieves
Eight kilometres west. It shares the Virgen de las Nieves with Aspe under an agreement dating from 1418.
-
Hondón de los Frailes
Further on along the CV-845. One of the Spanish towns where foreign residents outnumber Spaniards.
-
Agost
East, towards Alicante, among the same grape fields: the province’s pottery town, home of the botijo.
These three towns are covered for every service, at the same hours as Aspe. Other towns nearby are not on the list: if yours is not named here, ring and ask before relying on it.
