At home, on the finca, at work

Safe opening in Aspe, for safes at home, on the finca or at work

A keypad that has gone dark, a code nobody wrote down, an override key lost years ago, a safe nobody knew about until the house changed hands. Opened with as little harm to the safe as it allows; and new safes bolted down where they will stay.

Open 24 hours · 7 days

  • Battery and override tried first
  • Ownership checked before opening
  • Price agreed before work starts

Safes that will not open

The usual reasons, and what is done

  • Flat battery. A frequent cause with electronic safes. The guide on a dead battery with no override key shows what you can try.
  • Forgotten or changed code. Reset through the manufacturer's procedure where it exists, or the lock is opened.
  • Lost override key. The lock is opened another way, and replaced if needed.
  • Jammed bolt. Often because something inside is pressing on the door; it is relieved, not forced.
  • A safe that came with a house. Inherited homes often hold one. The guide on an inherited house with no keys covers the papers.

New safes

Fitting a safe so that it stays put

A safe is only as good as what holds it. In a town flat in La Coca or Huerta Mayor that means the floor slab or a structural wall; in a finca, the concrete floor of the house rather than an outbuilding. Hotel-style safes in a wardrobe stop casual hands, not a determined visitor.

  1. Choose the place

Solid fixing, out of plain sight, reachable without moving furniture every time.

  2. Choose the safe

Size for what it will hold, and a lock you will be able to use in ten years.

  3. Bolt it down

Into the floor or wall, from inside the safe so the bolts cannot be reached.

  4. Set the code with you

And show you how the battery and the override work.

Businesses too

Office and shop safes in Aspe

An office safe whose code left with a former manager, a shop safe that will not open on a Monday: the method is the same, with proof that the business is yours. For the doors of the premises themselves, see the commercial page, and after a break-in, repairs after a break-in. Safes on country properties are part of the finca and villa page too. Photos can be sent first through the contact page.

Asked on the phone

Safe questions people ask

The safe beeps when I type the code but the handle will not turn. Why?

Often the batteries are low enough to light the keypad but not to pull the bolt back. Change them first, if the compartment is outside. If nothing changes, send a photo of the front and the brand name.

The safe came with the house we bought and there is no code or key. Is that a problem?

No, as long as you can show the house is yours: the deeds, the purchase contract or a declaration of heirs. The safe is opened and, if it is sound, set up with a new code.

Will the safe still be usable after you open it?

Usually. Many safes open through an override key or a reset procedure. When drilling is the only way, it is done at a single point and the lock is replaced, so the safe can go back into service.

We are away from the finca for months. Where should a safe go?

Bolted to the concrete floor or a solid wall, somewhere that is not the first cupboard anyone opens. A safe that is not fixed down can be carried out to a car in a minute.
